Karakami was introduced from China during the Heian period.
I am certified as a karakishi, a nationally selected preservation skill holder, and I believe this is because the history and techniques of karakami have been recognized.
Karagen have produces postcards, petit bags so that the quality of karakami, which is generally used for interior decoration as fusuma sliding doors, can be enjoyed more familiarly.
Of course, the technique and thought that goes into the making of both fusuma sliding doors and small items are the same.
