History
It all started with making textiles that are rooted in daily life
"CLOCOMI" is an original brand of Kondo Factory Ltd, located in Taka-cho, Hyogo Prefecture.
"CLOCOMI" is a name that reflects the creator's desire to communicate with the user through the medium of cloth.
The company was founded by Yoshiki Kondo, the third generation of the Kondo family, counting from the Banshu-ori company Kondo shokufu, founded in 1961, and is run in partnership with his brother Makoto, a designer.
Banshu-ori is a weaving technique that has continued for more than 200 years in the Kita-Harima region (mainly Nishiwaki City and Taka County, Hyogo Prefecture), and was originally developed by farmers make their own clothes.
Later, taking advantage of the region's mild climate and abundance of high-quality water, which is essential for weaving, it developed into a local industry based on weaving techniques learnt from Nishijin in Kyoto.
After the war, exports also flourished and the industry expanded to the global market, but it is now in a difficult situation, influenced by the economic climate.
There are no sewing factories in the Banshu region and the name "Banshu-ori" is not well known because it is processed wholesale as fabric.
Therefore, we are working to make the name "Banshu-ori" and its reliable quality widely known, in addition to being a behind-the-scenes player in the industry.

Characteristic
Breathing new life into the old
Banshu-ori uses a technique called 'yarn-dyeing weaving', in which the threads are dyed first and the pattern is woven later, and is characterised by the fact that the colour hardly fades even after repeated washing because the dye has penetrated to the core of the threads.
Because the patterns are expressed using woven threads rather than prints, a three-dimensional effect is created, resulting in a unique textured cloth with a varied surface.
The characteristic of KONDO FACTORY is that it is an unprecedented, original product that combines the weaving techniques learned in Italy by Yoshiki Kondo, the representative of the company, with the family business of Banshu-ori.
The company is consistently involved in everything from fabric production to product development in-house, and the designs by his younger brother Makoto, who is also a designer, enhance the quality of the products even further.
The concept behind the duo's craftsmanship is 'to create something new, interesting and beneficial for someone', and they prioritise what they want to do and come up with ideas, which are then repeatedly prototyped dozens of times before giving shape to them.
The triple gauze towels, which utilise natural cotton yarn, are the result of further trial and error while utilising the natural texture of Banshu-ori.
