History

Striving to be one of a kind

The predecessor to Hagihara Co., Ltd., "Hagihara Fuichi Shoten," was founded in 1892.

Leveraging the longstanding tradition of "igusa" (soft rush) cultivation in Okayama, it began by manufacturing and selling "flower mats" (hana-goza), which were popular at the time.

Today, we have grown into a company offering a wide range of interior goods.

Our logo, "Marufu," originates from the name "Hagiwara Fuichi," used by successive presidents.

It also carries the meaning of "one of a kind," evoked by the character "fu" (不), which can mean 'not' or "unique."

We have dedicated ourselves to rigorous quality control and sales efforts to deliver truly unique products to you.

Moving forward, we will continue to value relentless effort as we walk our path to create truly one-of-a-kind products.

The igusa we have handled since our founding is primarily known as a raw material for tatami mats.

Its humidity-regulating properties have made it a material well-suited to Japan's climate since ancient times.

We aim to pass on this craftsmanship to the future by transforming this material, cherished by the Japanese people for ages, into products that fit modern lifestyles.

Our domestically produced igusa products primarily use igusa from Kumamoto Prefecture.

We also select highly safe Japanese-made chemicals for use in the production process, ensuring they are gentle on the skin and can be used with confidence.

Furthermore, for other materials, we conduct regular inspections of partner factories and are involved in every step from manufacturing to sales.

We will continue our efforts to ensure everyone can enjoy comfortable living with safe materials.
