History
Techniques inherited from Kyoto's traditional culture
Kyoto Armor Co., Ltd. is a workshop producing fine art armor and dolls for Japan's Boys' Festival in Yamashina-ku, Kyoto.
Founded in 1925 at the foot of the Higashiyama mountain range in Kyoto, the company's techniques have been passed down and refined from generation to generation ever since.
Armor (yoroi) is the protective gear that was worn by samurai to protect themselves when going into battle.
The workshop makes every part of the armor in-house, and the works produced by careful handwork express not only the functionality needed when used for combat in the past, but also warmth and beauty of technique with prayers and wishes.

Kyoto Armor Co.'s Goal: "Kazari" Armor
Kyoto, the former capital of Japan for over 1,000 years, is a treasure house of the finest traditional crafts that originated from the glamorous aristocratic culture to the Buddhist artifacts of the Shinto and Buddhist traditions.
The artistic "kazari" armor is a symbol of Japanese culture, with each part of the armor meticulously crafted with the traditional techniques of Kyoto.
The production process of kazari armor is similar to that of actual armor and is a comprehensive art of traditional craftsmanship that harmoniously combines parts made of various materials such as leather, metal, braided cords, and lacquer.
From the forging of the iron plate and fabrication to the completion of the product, the various processes are all produced in a single workshop, which is a characteristic of this integrated production process and meticulous attention to detail.
The company handles many processes and expresses a profound and flowing originality born from the traditional techniques that have been handed down for a long time.
For Customers
Good Luck Charms
Kyoto Armor Co., Ltd.'s new brand "Kyoto Armor" aims to produce high quality traditional crafts by using the skills of armor making cultivated over the years and carefully working by hand down to the smallest detail.
The "Kazari koyoroi®" is based on the motif of "Sendan-no-ita", an important life-protecting piece of armor dedicated by military commanders to temples and shrines for the fulfillment of their great deeds and for the peace of the country.
The numerous crafts employed to create this armor are the same as used in a real piece of armor.
"Kazari koyoroi®" is not only a real piece of armor, but also a very fine piece of craftsmanship.
We hope you will put your prayers for your child's healthy growth, success in life, and family safety into this "Kazari koyoroi®" and hope it will fulfill its role as a good-luck charm for your child's long years of life.
They make wonderful gifts to celebrate the birth of a child, entrance into school, employment, and other life milestones.
