History
A New Enjoyment of Yuzen that Transcends Times and Cultures
I have loved drawing pictures since I was a child.
While I was a student at the Faculty of Letters, I became interested in Yuzen and took a hand-drawn Yuzen course at the Kyoto City Dyeing Experiment Station.
After graduating from university, I studied under the Yuzen artist Kihachiro Yoshida.
Then, in 2019, I established Morphosphere, a manufacturing brand with Yuzen dyeing as its key concept.
The origin of the name is a coined word from Morpho butterfly, which has been my subject matter since I started dyeing, and Sphere, which means celestial body or sphere.
Characteristic
Craft x Fashion x Visual Art
"tint" is a series of dyed and embroidered lace accessories based on the theme of "Wearing Colors".
I dared to choose a motif of flowers familiar to people all over the world, and focused on the beauty of colors unique to Yuzen.
The materials, designs, and colors are the result of repeated trial and error and dyeing experiments.
In order to bring Yuzen closer to people, and to let as many people as possible know the beauty of the colors, we have also prepared design tiles and furoshiki (wrapping cloth) that go beyond the framework of kimonos.
The products dyed with the colors produced by my unique dye blending are a once-in-a-lifetime encounter.
For Customers
Making Yuzen More Accessible
"tint" dyeing and embroidery accessories, ceramic tiles and furoshiki (wrapping cloth) made from copperplate transfers of kimonos created with hand-painted yuzen.
I have developed a diverse range of works that can be viewed, worn, or displayed.
The reason for this is that I want people to learn about the beauty of Yuzen dyeing and experience the joy of wearing colors through our works.
I will continue to search for new ways to use yuzen that transcend cultures and generations, and create works that you can incorporate into your daily life.
May your daily life be enriched by the beauty of Kyoto Yuzen.
