History

Enjoying the Possibilities of Textiles

"POLS is a brand born from Maruman Corporation, a yarn-dyed textile manufacturer located in Nishiwaki City, Hyogo Prefecture.

Its history dates back to 1901, when Maruyama Man'emon established "Maruyama Man'emon Shoten".

The company began operations in Kita-Harima, a production area of Banshu Ori that has continued since the Edo period, with a weaving factory equipped with 400 Jacquard looms and a sewing factory.

We design and supply original textiles mainly for corporate customers.

Since Banshu Ori began with Jacquard weaving, we have been refining our Jacquard weaving techniques and pursuing various methods of expression.

We launched a new brand, POLS, in 2015 in the hope that many people will become familiar with these varied Jacquard weaving expressions.

We will continue to pursue the possibilities of textiles and bring the "joy of textiles" to everyone.

Characteristic

Aiming for expressive jacquard weaving

POLS was born from the collaboration between Maruman Corporation and textile designer KANAKO KAJIHARA.

Using our unique and expressive original fabrics, we develop products mainly for interior and fashion items.

Jacquard weave is a fabric woven on a loom invented by Joseph Marie Jacquard of France.

It is characterized by freely combining weaving methods and yarn colors to create patterns as it is woven.

Banshu Ori, which is a yarn-dyed fabric, draws out patterns by changing the color of the threads, but Jacquard weaving allows for more three-dimensional and complex designs.

The fabrics created through these creative efforts are unique textiles that only we can produce.

Enjoy delicate and playful expressions

POLS items are characterized by the delicate expression of patterns, color transitions, and weaving techniques.

In particular, items using bright fluorescent-colored threads, such as POLS pink, have a playful pop design with dot patterns.

In addition, items using cut jacquard weave have a unique look created through the process of thread cutting, in which a portion of the fabric woven with the pattern is cut out.

This creates a three-dimensional and unique expression.
