History
Inherited the kiln from his grandfather's generation
SHINSUIGAMA is a Tamba pottery kiln located in Sasayama City, Hyogo Prefecture, and I am the third generation since my grandfather opened the kiln in 1968.
I was in my early 20s when I decided I wanted to take over the kiln.
After studying at a technical college in Kyoto, I started my career as a ceramic artist.
I became fascinated by the beauty of glazes, and I am particularly particular about the colors of glazes.
I have received a lot of inspiration from the blessed natural environment, and have applied it to the creation of my works while searching for colors that are unique to me.
I would like to continue to pursue new colors and expressions every day, while inheriting the tradition of Tamba-yaki.

Characteristic
A vessel that is simple yet has a strong presence
The city of Tamba Sasayama, where SHINSUIGAMA is located, is surrounded by mountains and is a region where agriculture and traditional industries thrive.
There are about 60 to 70 kilns here, each of which sells directly to the public.
Tamba pottery is considered one of the six oldest kilns in Japan, along with Seto, Tokoname, Shigaraki, Bizen, and Echizen, and its origins date back to the end of the Heian period.
The oldest Noborigama kiln remaining in the area is also designated as a Tangible Folk Cultural Property of Hyogo Prefecture.
Tamba-yaki is characterized by its brownish-brown skin and rustic texture, and various types of vessels have been produced in accordance with the times.
It has a robust presence formed by a kicking potter's wheel.
The unique colors and patterns created by the glaze are also attractive.
I challenge myself to create new glazes, and some colors are created after trying 100 to 200 different colors.
The resulting glass glazed dishes allow you to enjoy the beautiful color of the glaze after you have finished eating.
I hope you enjoy the simplicity and presence unique to Tamba-yaki.

For Customers
Pursuing the ultimate in comfort
My goal is to create "dishes that show off the food better".
I aim to create tableware that goes well with any kind of food.
I also hope that people will enjoy cooking more by using different tableware than usual, and I work hard every day to create products that do just that.
Furthermore, in order to ensure that our customers can use our products comfortably every day, we actually use the finished dishes to test their usability.
We check the mouth feel of cups, the usability of small bowls, durability in a dishwasher, and the ease of breakage.
Since each piece is handmade on a potter's wheel, the shape and height of each piece differs slightly.
We hope you enjoy the uniqueness of our handmade products.
We hope you will enjoy the simple taste of Tamba-yaki, which inherits ancient traditions, and the beautiful glaze shine at your dining table.
