History
Preserving the pride of the potter and passing it on to the next generation
Founded in 1890.
We have been a wholesaler in Shiga Prefecture, the production center of Shigaraki ware.
In the 1930s, we began to deal in Shigaraki ware in earnest.
Currently, we deal with more than 80 Shigaraki ware studios and artists.
Utilizing our long years of experience and network, we are actively engaged in providing ideas and developing products from the user's perspective.
In 1996, we launched our own brand, "Tsuchigoyomi," offering raccoon figurines and tableware with a playful spirit.
We combine proud craftsmanship and unique design to develop products that are in tune with the times and lifestyles.
Characteristic
The texture created by "one kiln, two clays, three crafts"
The charm of Shigaraki ware is the simple texture of the clay.
The use of various types of glazes, the gradation of colors and textures created by the flames, ash-covering, burning, etc.
, bring out the best of the clay.
One of the charms of the finished product is that it changes its expression depending on the humidity and the nature of the soil in the season.
It is truly a pottery that reflects the living nature.
The strength, simple taste, and warmth that seem to express the richness of nature as it is can be said to be the key to its continued popularity among people.
We have a lineup with a variety of faces, including raccoon figurines, which are the symbol of Shigaraki ware, simple vessels shaped by hand, and modern monotone vessels.
For Customers
As a wholesaler, we want to be a part of your lifestyle.
Shigaraki ware has been handed down from the Heian period to the present day.
We are proud of our unique expression of Shigaraki ware, incorporating the modern essence of "fun" and "healing" while utilizing its tradition.
We are also trying out new challenges, such as using a variety of glazes that are characteristic of Shigaraki ware, colorful raccoon figurines created in collaboration with Kutani ware, and bottles with an ionized interior.
We hope you will take a chance and enjoy the uniqueness and taste of Shigaraki ware that our potters have created with great care!
