History
Launching our own brand after 150 years in business
We, Shinzangama Yamatsu, are a ceramic manufacturer founded in 1868.
In Toki City, Gifu Prefecture, which boasts the largest production of ceramics in Japan, we have been manufacturing Mino ware for over 150 years, focusing on tea sets since our establishment.
About 70% of Toki City is covered with hilly terrain, and because of the abundance of clay suitable for pottery, pottery making has been practiced since the Heian period (1,300 years ago), and various artisans as well as kiln makers live in the city.
In the past, we mainly worked as a subcontractor supporting someone else's manufacturing, but we decided to launch our own brand, making use of the expertise in tea set making that we have inherited for 150 years since our establishment.
We will continue to make products with sincerity, valuing the relationship of trust with everyone we come into contact with.
Characteristic
A new traditional style that can be used without hesitation
■Frustum
Means conical base.
It is a shape that has been seen in Japanese tetsubin for a long time, with an edge that changes in the middle of the earthenware body.
The impression of tea has been strengthened, and the form is familiar to those who love Japan.
To add a modern impression, the shape of the spout was re-examined and experimented with repeatedly.
This kyusu is easy to hold and pour.
It has a large capacity, so it can be used for family gatherings.
■Voyage
The concept of this product is "tea containers that travel around the world".
It has a shape like a handbag with a genuine leather handle, offering a new kind of enjoyment that has never been seen in ceramics before.
It is also attractive as an object, and we hope you will truly enjoy your tea time.
For Customers
Take "care" of yourself to be happy.
With fewer and fewer people owning tea sets (especially kyusu) today, we feel that we need to rethink the way tea is served.
Developing tea sets that fit into people's daily lives is a way to protect the life with tea.
With this in mind, we are determined to create a new "TRADITIONAL" tea set that can be used at home without hesitation.
Ceramics and porcelain have always played a supporting role in tableware, adding color to our lives.
As a supporting actor of Mino ware, we at Yamatsu will continue to fire "care" in our kilns to make people's lives happier all over Japan and the world.
