Takeko Kaizawa

Osikesalanipu is the Ainu word for "woven basket" or "woven bag.”

In the past, it was used for transporting and storing hunting tools and wild vegetables and fish collected in the area, but in modern times, it makes for a great picnic bag.

The raw materials are linden and elm bark, and the design of the edges and cylindrical shape are characteristic of the product.

Kaizawa has been mastering various traditional techniques since he was a child and is currently designated as an "Ainu Association Outstanding Craftsman" and "Ainu Cultural Foundation Traditional Craftsman".

The bags, which are woven one by one with much time and care from the collected materials, are full of individuality and are ideal as gifts.
