Description
Nobuo Yoshida
Kimunkamui means "mountain god" in the Ainu language and refers to the brown bear.
The Ainu have cherished the brown bear as a special being.
This brown bear figurine is delicately carved using traditional Ainu wood carving techniques into "buried wood," wood that has been buried in the ground for many years and has carbonized into a dense fossil.
The artist has been carving Ainu artwork for more than 50 years.
He creates my works as if breathing life into them, taking advantage of the natural beauty of the grain of the wood.
These lively bears look as if they are about to come to life, making them perfect for interior decoration or as gifts.
