Description
Takeko Kaizawa
KAPALAMIPU is a name derived from the Ainu words "kapala" (thin, beautiful) and "amipu" (kimono).
The pieces are carefully made by layering a white cloth over the base cloth, cutting out the shape, and sewing it on.
We have framed the traditional Ainu patterns so that you can enjoy them as interior decoration.
The traditional Ainu patterns are also meant to ward off evil spirits, making it an ideal gift for a housewarming or store-opening celebration.
Takeko Kaizawa has been learning traditional techniques since she was a child, and is currently designated as an "Excellent Craftswoman of the Ainu Association" and a "Traditional Craftswoman of the Ainu Cultural Foundation".
