Lacquering technique that brings out the grain of the wood

The small plates are finished with a lacquer coating technique called "mehajiki," which brings out the grain of the wood. This is a technique in which the wood has striations called "conduits" and is coated with raw lacquer, leaving these striations without a base coat.

Therefore, the surface of the small plate has streaks of grain unique to wood. The charming expressions of the animals, combined with the texture of the wood, will make you feel warm and fuzzy every time you pick it up.

The plates are about 3.94 in. (10cm) in diameter and about 0.39 in. (1cm) high, and although they are chunky and thick, they weigh only about 0.06 lbs (25g) each, making them light and attractive in a way that only wood can be.
